El Segundo is a town that means business. Its origins are rooted in business as “The Second” Standard Oil Refinery took shape, followed by the nearby airport and booming aerospace and defense industry.
El Segundo is a place for serious business. And just as important, it’s a place where the braintrust of the country has been centralized.
With over 800 PhDs that work at the Aerospace Corporation alone. It’s part of its culture. It reflects well on the image of a company to stake its claim here. A town that is serious about its business, and serious about yours.
Recognized as the "Aerospace Capital of the World," the city is also home to key high-growth industries including: biosciences, emerging technologies, creative services, sports, entertainment, and professional services.
Thank you Chevron!
The Chevron El Segundo Refinery has been a proud member of the community since 1911. El Segundo earned its name (“the second” in Spanish) by becoming the site of the second Standard Oil refinery on the West Coast when Standard Oil of California purchased 840 acres of farmland.
Chevron has supported Economic Development in El Segundo with grants totaling over $1,000,000 in the past six years.
